ANOTHER CUP (o’ JOE) – lyrics and music by Richard C. Tollini © 2005
(1st Verse)
Can we sit down and talk about what-the-hell is going on
in the world today
Just a little time to tell me what you really think an’not just spittin’ back what (you hear) other people say
(prechorus)
The politics of the left and right pollutes the well of our human hearts and minds
Now where’s the poets of the middle-way who sang the songs that opened up our eyes
(Chorus)
Maybe we need another cup o’ joe Waiter bring another cup o’ joe
(2nd Verse)
The stones we tossed in our yesterdays have built the walls that inprison us in our lives (it seems without a hope of seeing the other ...)
Side of reality and the future we create is up to us and not some fools or clowns in disguise

Now where the Beats and the Hippie freaks who said they knew the way to find our inner peace
I saw some in a new café hitching rides on some kind of new highway

(a smokeless world of dangerous divides) Waiter bring another cup o joe
(Bridge )
Oh say can you see the thin line that separates us from what we want to be
(3d Verse)
Well its getting late but we should meet again seems we never have the time to see old friends (anymore)
Soccer games and dentist chairs, take out meals, can you tell me now who does your hair

And I heard they raised the price today of the coffee beans that traveled here from half a world away, so now
I’m afraid the cost to save the world just went up by another fifty cents a cup

so waiter bring another cup o’ joe I think I need another cup o’ joe
can I have another cup o’ joe?

Description
Short Song Description:
2 people talking about life over coffee
Long Song Description:
The idea behind this song is basic communication of universal themes between two human beings, i.e., our most basic and enduring means of communicating (human-to-human, and not via electronic or other means, or influenced by the media or outside elements).
Our daily lives seem mundane and sometimes without value or effect, but even the most simple ideas expressed honestly between people can go a long ways to changing ourselves, and our environment/the world we live in a more positive ways -- even in our busy daily lives we need to take time to talk - that is the theme I attempted to present here
Story Behind the Song:
First, I REALLY like coffee -- not that foo-foo flavored stuff - good, straight, espresso level caffeine (Hah!). And I've always thought the term "cup o' Joe" was cool (Yes, I know the history behind the term)
Also, much like McDonalds, I've noticed the modern day "coffee houses" are places like Starbucks, et.al., that are now ubiquitous throught the world and give us a common ground and/or even meeting place where people of ALL types and cultures can show up and share time with each other (kinda like an International Waffle House...Hahx2!)
Imagine if we could meet those we both like or hate and talk over a cup of coffee instead of attacking each other (figuratively and literally) - this is how we change the world
