HELL’S KITCHEN - lyrics/music by Richard C. (Kluso) Tollini ©2003
(1st Verse)
Sitting at a table in the middle of Hell’s Kitchen Oblivious they kiss
Chaos all around them in the middle of Hell’ Kitchen
Why don’t it end like this Why don’t it end like this
(2nd Verse)
A wink and shared smoke between them right here in hell’s kitchen ( they’re planning they’re lives together now)but why won’t end like this, yeah Why won’t it end like this
(PreChorus)
Love growing ripe as a summer cherry (gold as an August moon)
He leans to her and says “hey girl…how bout lets get married”
(Chorus)
But why don’t it end like this why don’t it end like this
(3d verse)
Superficial wit crackback hit lipstick on the mirror “Boys lie boys lie”
A momentary slip, a little bit too much hip…he moves on to another ‘ Girls cry…
Come on lets hear all the girls cry
(Bridge)
Lives entwined can’t see beyond the next moment
Whispered lies can’t wait another second
Short goodbyes planning for the next tragedy
Don’t look now this could be your or me
(Chorus)
But why don’t it end like this how could it end like this
(Interlude) --
(verse )
Superficial wit crackback hit lipstick on the mirror “Boys lie, boys lie”
A momentary slip, a little bit too much hip…he moves on to another ‘ Girls cry…

Description
|
Short Song Description: Shallow behavior and relationships
|
Long Song Description: The idea behind this song is how couples can fall deeply in love at the beginning of a relationship, but because of shallowness and other aberations of human behavior the relationship often breaks down or breaks apart.
|
Story Behind the Song: I wrote this song and got the title and idea for first verse while sitting in a bar in Norfolk, VA. called Hell's Kitchen. Even though the historical Hell's Kitchen is a N.Y. landmark and could have some application to the meaning of the song, that was not the target/intent.
Anyway, while sipping on a Jack/Rocks I noticed a young couple sitting at a lone table that had been placed smack in the middle of the bar area. The place was packed almost shoulder-to-shoulder but they seemed so in love that they were oblivious to the "chaos all around them".
In the mean time I was checking out other people there, on the prowl, using unimaginably shallow or disrespectful chatter as part of their act....so I wondered if this young love that was blossoming was going to last or if they would end up eventually like some of the other fools in the bar --
Hmmmm... who knows (haven't been back since then)
