Description
Short Song Description: Rediscovery and redemption of a failing love.
Long Song Description: The underlying original title of How Do You Want Me refers to the act of redefining our love within a relationship back closer to its original starting point.... you remember? kinda like when you would do ANYTHING for the other person? - Versus where relationships usually end up and break up, when we become self centered and self serving -- this song is about the long struggle to maintain that love (even after sometimes redefining what the relationship is all about).
The pro-title - THE RIVER - came about after the song was finished, realizing there is reference to a RIVER twice in the song - -both as a beatiful, calm, peaceful place or a "raging" torrent - also, something that is not constant but always changng - basically a reference to life and the relationship within it -- it can be both and sometimes the "salvation" occurs when times get roughest.
OK -- that's enuff --- hopefully you can "connect" with this song on some level
Story Behind the Song: Obviously we all have ups and downs in our relationships -- This song is not that personal although I was looking back and thinking about how the "love" in my life with my wife has gradually redefined itself -
This is really intended as a classic LOVE SONG, which for some reason? I don't seem to write too often - hmmmm...
