CITY GIRL by Richard C. (Kluso) Tollini © 2004
(1st Verse)
Young girl, cold and lost in the city (Makes you tough don’t it )
All the young men think yur so pretty (You know, in that city kinda way)
An’now____________your bummin’ makin’ jus’enough to get by, and
Café chic ain’t nothin’but slummin' and now you wondering why
(Prechorus)
You’ll never find your Sugar Daddy--You’ll never drive no Cadillac
Y’could go home to Momma and Pap --If they’d take your back
(2nd Verse)
Living like a flash in the pan Let’s you be who wanna be
So you never have to make a stand an’you think that sets your free?
Ohhh__________________living It’s not a flash in the pan
And alllll_____that you’re given” you’ll never understand
(prechorus)
There’ll never be a guardian angel -there’ll never be a shining knight
You’ll never be a Cinderella even tho’ you dream that you might
(chorus)
Ohhhhh___________ you’re just a city girl
Yeah________yeh, yeah in a great big world
(Bridge)
So sleep pretty baby now its alright as your life just seems to pass you by
You’re gonna see one day before its too late and you’ll finally realize
What you’re looking for was right in front of your eyes
(Interlude)
(Prechorus refrain)
There’ll never be a guardian angel - there’ll never be a shining knight
You’ll never be a Cinderella even tho’ you stay up all night
(Chorus)
Ohh________ You’re such a silly girl
Yeah________yeh, yeh in a mixed up world
Ohhhhh___________ you’re just a city girl
Yeah________yeh, yeah in a great big world

Description
|
Short Song Description: Short Description of Song
Young, tough woman/city girl looking for happiness (the wrong way/wrong places)
|
Long Song Description: Long Description of Song
The deeper meaning is a look at how our environment can shape us in a negative way if we don't take control of our own lives and change ourselves in order to see the reality of the world around us. In this sense the "City Girl" thinks she is going to find happiness in the superficial world of city life, when in actuality her happiness will be found when she discovers who she really is herself.

Story Behind the Song: Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song initially from an idea I jotted down while driving through downtown Tokyo coming back home with my band from a studio practice session (imagine the taxi scene from Lost In Translation). While at a stop light I looked over and saw a young woman trudging up the sidewalk, somewhat bundled against a cold breeze. She was definitely on her way somewhere but seemed to have this "barrier" around her -- it made me think that is must be tough growing up as a young woman and living in a big city like Tokyo "makes you tough don't it" -- From there the song grew out of a great drum track I found (psuedo-Pete Yorn style beat) and a hook-lick for the intro remeniscent of 60's pop sound -- this is a great song to play/hear live and to crank up while driving down the road -- the late chorus/bridge builds to and outstanding rock lead break played by Yoshiki (well.. at least I really love this song -- hope you do too
